Admirers of Pejac’s oeuvre have every reason to rejoice; almost a year since the last print release, a new official limited edition – The Boss – will be launched on the opening night of APNEA, the artist’s forthcoming show in Berlin (Modersohnstraße 35-45, 30 October – 7 November).

The print measuring 106 x 77 cm has been produced in an edition of 40 copies only. This edition is unique in the sense that the image is printed on traditional Korean ‘Kozo’ mulberry paper, which itself is glued on top of Zerkall Artrag handmade cotton paper. It’s a technique that adds a special aesthetic value to the edition. Each copy – signed and numbered by the artist – is single-coloured and hand-pulled from a photopolymer printing plate.  

Pejac feels the character depicted in this work is best described using a famous quote from Oscar Wilde: ‘‘A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing.’’

Pejac wants everyone to have a fair chance of acquiring a print and like before, the most fitting way to ensure impartiality is by organising a lottery. Anyone keen to get his hands on a copy of The Boss should therefore first buy a lottery ticket in person at the APNEA exhibition opening and then be among the winners of the drawing.

Lottery tickets come in the form of a postcard, a miniature version of the actual artwork. They’re black and white high quality digital prints mounted on 2 mm grey cardboard. These postcard tickets cost 20€ each.

The postcards can also be bought as collector’s items on this website between the 31st of October 12:00 noon and the 2nd of November 12:00 noon (CET). However, do note that only those buying (stamp-numbered) tickets in person at the public opening of APNEA will be able to take part in the lottery and will have a chance of purchasing a limited edition print. The 40 winners of the lottery will be contacted by email on the 4th of November.

Traditionally, Pejac’s print releases go hand in hand with supporting charities. This time is no different as part of the proceeds from the ticket sale will be donated to Sea-Watch, an NGO that has saved the lives of thousands of migrants and refugees trying to cross the Mediterranean. Everyone buying a lottery ticket thus aids vital civil search and rescue missions.
